Rabbi Nahum Dov Brayer: The Current Rebbe of Boyan Hasidism
Rabbi Nahum Dov Brayer is the current Rebbe of the Boyan Hasidic dynasty. Born in New York on 7th Nisan, 5719 (1959), he is the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Breyer, a multifaceted scholar in Jewish studies, psychologist, Yiddish author, and rabbi. His father served as an associate professor of biblical literature and a counseling psychologist at Yeshiva University in New York.
Early Life and Education
Nahum Dov Brayer grew up in New York, where he received his Torah education. In 1980, he married the daughter of Rabbi Zusha Heschel, the son of Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Kopishnitz. After his marriage, Rabbi Breyer moved to Israel and settled in Jerusalem.
Appointment as Rebbe
Following the passing of his grandfather, Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo Friedman, in 1980, Rabbi Nahum Dov Breyer was appointed as the Rebbe of Boyan. Since then, he has led the Hasidic dynasty and continues the path of his grandfather with dedication and vision.
Connection with Chabad
Rabbi Nahum Dov Breyer maintains warm ties with the Chabad Hasidic movement. He participates in various Chabad events and maintains connections with Chabad rabbis.
