Early Life and Education

Rabbi Yehuda Tzadka zt”l was born in 1910 in Jerusalem to a family of Iraqi-Jewish descent. From a young age, he displayed exceptional dedication to Torah study. He studied at Porat Yosef Yeshiva, where he became one of its most outstanding students. His teachers included great Sephardic scholars such as Rabbi Ezra Attiya, who later appointed him as a leader in the yeshiva.

Rabbi Tzadka dedicated his life to strengthening Sephardic Torah study and preserving its traditions. He became the Rosh Yeshiva of Porat Yosef, where he guided generations of scholars and leaders. His deep knowledge of Halacha, Kabbalah, and Mussar (ethics)made him a highly respected figure.

He authored several important works, including “Kol Yehuda,” a collection of Torah insights and ethical teachings. His approach combined strict adherence to Jewish law with an emphasis on kindness, humility, and personal growth.

Throughout his life, Rabbi Tzadka played a key role in reviving and strengthening Sephardic Jewry. He encouraged students to devote themselves to Torah while maintaining strong moral character.
